Schroeder's Cafe & Bakery (& Farmer's Market?)

Stopped by somewhat accidentally at 10:30 am on a Saturday in June. At the corner of Hwy 62 and County Road 1 (also called Schoharie Road) - near Huff Estates Winery.

The fresh bread is probably the best thing about the cafe.
  • They made us a fresh batch of coffee (what I call North American coffee - on the weak side, but otherwise non-objectionable).
  • Their menu consists of home-made soups, breads, and sandwiches.
  • There's a choice of about 5 flavourful soups (crockpots on the counter right in the cafe keeping them warm), served with home-made bread lathered generously with butter (or some spread anyway). The soups seem a better bet than the chili.
  • Or you can get one of a few delicious homey sandwiches.
  • $5 for soup & bread; $10 for soup & sandwich
The shop sells breads, pies/muffins/tarts, meats. And a great variety of pickles in jars - Mike really liked their sweet pickle served with the sandwich.

They apparently carry gluten-free and organic stuff, but you probably have to request these specially - they are not the default.
